Partly on an abandoned road, partly on a foot path, the 1/4 mile roundtrip route follows a creek through cottonwood and aspen stands
Park at the trail head at the back of the family side of the campground. The trail climbs to a plateau and then drops to the river (2.2 miles one way). A good destination is a large, shady cottonwood grove six miles up the canyon. Several river crossings are necessary on this hike. In early summer, use extreme caution when attempting a crossing because of swift, deep water.
Best time to hike: July- October.
