While miniature baskets are small enough to fit in one’s hand, they hold an enormous amount of technical mastery, tradition, artistry, and cultural knowledge. Plateau baskets (Wa’paas) are specific to the people of the Columbia Plateau, but basketry appears across countless cultures around the world and has been fertile ground for a wide range of artistic exploration.
Miniature baskets will be showcased in the exhibition By My Hand: Holding Power, to be on display at the Pendleton Center for the Arts (PCA) from November 13 – December 31, 2025. This exhibition is being presented in collaboration with Crow’s Shadow Institute’s Traditional Arts Program.
Admission is always FREE. Open Tuesday – Friday, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.; Saturday, 12 p.m. - 4 p.m.
