There’s still so much to see and do this fall across Eastern Oregon. 🍁 From the Wallowa Mountains in the northeast to the high desert of Harney and Malheur counties, October brings crisp mornings, bright color and plenty of reasons to spend time outside.Add one of these to your fall adventure list:🥾 Hike among changing leaves in the Wallowa Mountains🚲 Bike the trails around Baker City or La Grande🎣 Spend an afternoon fishing along the John Day River after checking current regulations🛶 Paddle near Boardman on a calm fall day 🦅 Watch for migrating wildlife in Harney County🚗 Take a scenic drive through the Owyhee region while roads are dry and openCheck current weather, trail access and seasonal closures before heading out, and pack warm layers for changing conditions.📍 Eagle Cap Wilderness 📸 @dmitrislens

Some of Eastern Oregon’s best views appear after sunset. Spend the day hiking along the John Day River at Cottonwood Canyon State Park, then stay to see why it earned recognition as an International Dark Sky Park. With limited light pollution, it’s an incredible place to see the Milky Way. ⭐️ After a summer of wildfire activity, support communities throughout the John Day River Territory by grabbing a meal, shopping locally or staying overnight in Condon, Arlington or Fossil. Remember to check current conditions and always pack out what you bring.📸 1. Joni Kabana // 📸 2. Destination by Design
