IN A LANDSCAPE: Sumpter Valley Dredge

September 3, 2021 - September 3, 2021

IN A LANDSCAPE: Sumpter Valley Dredge

Founded in 2016 by classical pianist Hunter Noack, IN A LANDSCAPE: Classical Music in the Wild is an outdoor concert series where America’s most stunning landscapes replace the traditional concert hall. They bring a 9-foot Steinway grand piano on a flatbed trailer to National Parks, urban greenspaces, working ranches, farms, and historical sites for classical music concerts that connect people with each landscape.

To meet the acoustical challenges of performing in the wild, music is transmitted to concert-goers via wireless headphones. No longer confined to seats, you can explore the landscape, wander through secret glens, lie in sunny meadows, and roam old-growth forests.

ABOUT THIS LANDSCAPE

Don’t miss this once a year chance to ride a vintage steam engine train with Hunter followed by his concert in front of the imposing Sumpter Valley Dredge! After the concert, just at the edge of the old gold mining town of Sumpter, the evening ends with a sing-a-long on the open air steam engine train ride back to McEwan station.

If you choose to not join Hunter on the train, purchase the concert ticket only and enjoy the full IN A LANDSCAPE experience at Sumpter Valley Dredge State Natural Area.

Please note: Separate tickets are required for the train ride and the concert. This is one of Hunter’s favorite events all summer - join him for this unique experience on the Sumpter Valley Railroad.
